There’s something truly special about summer on Kamloops’ North Shore, and Overlanders Day is one of the biggest reasons why. Now in its 10th year, this beloved event returns to Brocklehurst Park on Saturday, July 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., offering a full day of family fun, local food, and community connection. Proudly presented by Beem Credit Union and hosted by the North Shore Business Improvement Association (NSBIA), Overlanders Day is more than just a festival; it’s a celebration of the neighbourhood and everything that makes it vibrant, welcoming, and one-of-a-kind.

This year promises something for everyone. The Food Expo will feature 10 local vendors serving up tasty eats and cold drinks to fuel your day. Entertainment will run throughout the event on the main stage, with performances hosted by the always-energetic Nick Carter. For families, the Kidz Zone offers hours of excitement with inflatables, face painting, crafts, robots, and even a “Paint-a-Parent” contest hosted by Kamloops Art Party. The festival spirit is everywhere, from the laughter of kids to the community pride at every tent and booth.

Local businesses will shine at the Business & Community Expo, where around 80 vendors will share their talents, products, and services. For animal lovers, the Paws & Claws Expo is back with a wide variety of pet-related vendors and activities. And this year, there’s something new: Corgi races! A fresh twist on the past dachshund races, these speedy pups are sure to draw a crowd.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Sancho the Clown will be mingling through the park, and mascots like Stormy, Digger, Daphne the Unicorn, and Homer will be popping by for photos. The coconut cream pie-eating contest promises a sticky, sweet competition for both kids and adults, with medals up for grabs. And with the dunk tank, basketball court, putting green, giant Jenga, and prize wheel at the NSBIA tents, there are games and giveaways all day long.

Overlanders Day also features thoughtful touches to keep everyone comfortable. Water stations will be available for both people and pets, and volunteers will be on hand throughout the park., The City of Kamloops is offering free swimming at Brock Pool from 1–3 p.m. It’s a perfect opportunity to cool off mid-celebration.

At ARPA, we love seeing moments like this come to life on the North Shore. Overlanders Day isn’t just about what’s happening; it’s about who it brings together. Whether you’re browsing local booths, sharing a laugh with neighbours, or cheering on a corgi, it’s a reminder of what makes this community so strong.
