As November winds down, the North Shore is buzzing with community spirit, from local celebrations to festive events that bring us together.
Earlier this month, Bright Eye Brewing marked its 6th anniversary in true North Shore style. Owners Mitchell Forgie, Bryan Craig, Richard Marken, and Tyler Windsor have built more than a brewery; they’ve created a heart-and-soul gathering place. The milestone celebration featured incredible food and drink specials, reminding everyone why Bright Eye remains a local favourite.
Now, as we head into December, the North Shore transforms into a centre of holiday cheer with events perfect for families, friends, and even furry companions.
On December 7, the NSBIA Community Holiday Festival lights up Yew Street Spirit Square from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This free event has everything from photos with Santa (courtesy of All Mine Photography) and hot chocolate from McDonald’s to festive music by Brendan Methot, a 19-foot Christmas tree lighting, vendors, face painting, marshmallow roasting, and even appearances from The Grinch and Cindy Lou. It’s the perfect way to celebrate the season close to home.
That same day, dog lovers won’t want to miss the SRD K9s Winter Market at the Cooper Centre (10:00 AM to 3:00 PM). Hosted by Search, Recovery & Detection K9s of BC, this human-focused market offers handmade gifts, local treats, a massive raffle prize, and pre-booked Santa Paws photos. All proceeds support the Search Fund, helping to train search dogs and assist handlers across B.C.
From anniversary cheers to festive lights and heartfelt fundraisers, the North Shore community is full of warmth this season. Whether you’re sipping craft beer, shopping local, or celebrating under the twinkling lights, there’s no better way to wrap up the year than right here at home.
